Our Story
Someone Has Died was originally created by Adi Slepack and Ellie Black, who were grouped by fate as "Team Laserz" in a game design class at Wesleyan University. Tasked with creating a social game, the team fixated on the concept of Werewolf, where people are constantly being killed every round. They decided instead to start with the dead person. Soon after, the idea of a will arbitration sprouted, and Someone Has Died was born.
Upon graduating, Adi began playtesting the game with friends and taking the game to small exhibitions around New York City, where her former roommate Liz Roche joined her. In March 2017, Someone Has Died made its first major convention appearance with the IndieMegabooth at PAX East.
In September 2017, Someone Has Died launched it's very first Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for a first printing of the game. Hoping to raise $15,000, the game garnered over 1,700 backers and raised over $52,000. After selling out of the first printing, in 2019 Someone Has Died was born again as it entered its second printing, thanks to the immense support of its backers and community.
Since its creation, Someone Has Died has exhibited in conventions across the US (and occasionally outside the US). Someone Has Died has shown at the Boston Festival of Indie Games, IndieCade, PAX Unplugged, ConnectiCon, SHUX, Gen Con and more.
